The Prettiest Locations For A Date on The Isle of Wight

AD | This is a sponsored post. All opinions are honest and my own.

Have you ever been to the Isle of Wight? It’s well known as a popular family holiday destination, but it’s not just for families. The Isle of Wight has some really pretty locations that would make the perfect romantic setting for a date.

I have had countless holidays to the Isle of Wight over the years, so I know the island pretty well. I have a friend living over there who I often go over and visit, and she has introduced me to some great places that I didn’t know about before.

The Isle of Wight can be crowded, especially in the summer, so I have included some secluded places where you will be able to escape the crowds and spend some quality time with that special person.

Whether you live on the Isle of Wight and are looking for love, or whether you are planning a visit to the Isle of Wight with a partner or spouse, I hope this guide will help you to discover your perfect Isle of Wight dating location!

7 Pretty Locations for a Date on The Isle of Wight

The Prettiest Locations To Go For A Date on The Isle of Wight

1. Shanklin Chine

Shanklin Chine is an ancient coastal ravine that has been made into a tourist attraction with footpaths, walkways and a heritage centre. Its lush vegetation and waterfalls make it a beautiful and romantic spot for a date, especially in the evening when it is lit up with coloured lights!

2. Totland Bay

There are many bays and beaches on the Isle of Wight, but Totland Bay is quieter than some of the others. It’s also very pretty! I remember going there as a child and spending sunny days playing in the sand and sea. What could be more romantic than a beach date?

3. Carisbrooke Castle

If you are interested in history, Carisbrooke Castle would make an amazing location for a date. You can walk on the walls and Norman keep, explore the museum and even meet the resident donkeys! There are also some beautiful walks you can do around the outside of the castle without paying to go in.

4. Ventnor Downs

Ventnor Downs is the highest point on the island and the views are stunning! It’s a great place to go for a romantic walk in the sunshine and look out over the south side of the island. If you love wildlife and nature, there is plenty there to see including a herd of Old English feral goats!

5. Ventnor Botanic Garden

Ventnor Botanic Garden is special because it has its own unique microclimate. It lies beneath the southerly cliff of the island so it is protected from the north wind and holds onto warmth, giving it a Mediterranean climate. This allows subtropical plants to grow that would not survive elsewhere in the UK. If you fancy a taste of the Mediterranean, these gardens would be the perfect place for a date.

When you have finished exploring the garden, I recommend heading into Ventnor town for a visit to Crave Ice Cream Shop. The flavours are divine and they cater to dietary requirements including vegan, dairy-free and nut-free!

6. Mottistone Gardens

For a contrasting garden experience, I recommend visiting Mottistone Gardens which are owned by the National Trust. I’ve been to Mottistone several times and it is such a peaceful place, filled with flowers and beautiful landscaping in every season. It would be the ideal place to chill out on a bench and have a long conversation with your date. There is a lovely teashop too!

7. St Helens Fort

St Helens Fort is a sea fort in the Solent, built between 1865 and 1878 to protect the village of St Helens. If you want to visit the fort, you will need to time it right! It’s only possible to walk to the fort when the tide is extremely low, which happens just a few times every year. Typically the lowest tide is in August and thousands of people go there to walk from the beach to the fort and back again. Although crowded, the views across the water are stunning and a walk to St Helens fort would be a really unique date idea that you would remember forever.
