It’s July already, which means it’s time for my July Goals! I have recently written a round-up of how I did in my June goals. This month, I have included more small, one-off goals rather than goals I need to complete every day. This will add variety and stop me from getting bogged down with working on the same ‘daily goals’ every day.
My July Goals
- Do 3 Chloe Ting workout videos
I set myself this goal in June but never got round to it. So in July, I hope to try 3 of Chloe Ting’s workout videos, as a taster to see if I like them!
- Finish reading ‘Magic’ by Mike Russell
- Read 4 more books
At the end of June, I was halfway through reading Magic by Mike Russell which was kindly gifted to me by the publisher. I plan to finish reading this as soon as possible (look out for a book review coming soon) and then read 4 more books.
- Write and schedule 9 blog posts
This speaks for itself!
- Have 110 WordPress followers
Last month, I aimed for 100 followers but only got to 74. That hasn’t stopped me from aiming higher this month though, and I would like to reach 110 followers. If you’d like to help me out with this goal, please click the follow button! 😉Follow This Brilliant Day on WordPress.com
- Finish adding descriptive ALT text to all photos on my blog
Over the past few months I have been improving the ALT text on all my photos to optimise them for SEO. This takes a while, but I am over halfway through now and I would like to finish this in July.
- Make a better blog header
I would like to update my blog header so that it fits in better with the other graphics on my blog.
- Take a new, better profile picture
I have been using the same profile picture on my blog and social media for over a year now and I think it’s time to take a new one.
- Fix all broken links
I have a plugin that detects broken links on my site, but it’s been a while since I went through and fixed or deleted them. I plan to do this in July.
- Add a Goodreads currently reading widget
I have a ‘currently reading’ section in my sidebar that I update manually, but often I don’t get round to updating it! I plan to add a Goodreads widget because this will be easier to maintain.
- Make 5 affiliate sales
I am new to affiliate marketing but I would like to make my first 5 sales in July.
When I first read this e-book, I was impressed by the amount of new information it contained that I didn’t know before! I made 5 pages of notes and have already been implementing them into my blog and social media. In fact, some of this month’s goals have been influenced by the things I learned. So I was delighted when Kyra asked me to be an affiliate because I would have recommended this e-book anyway.
- Comment on 50 of other people’s Instagram photos
I’ve been improving the look of my Instagram lately, but one thing I haven’t been good at is engaging with other people’s posts. Therefore I plan to comment on at least 50 photos by other people this month.
- Post once on my Instagram story
I literally never use my Instagram story! Therefore, although this seems like a really small goal, it is a good starting point for me.
- Pin 5 fresh pins every day
My Pinterest engagement has been terrible lately, and I really want to get it back up again. I plan to be more regular in my pinning and pin 5 fresh pins every day in July.
- Read and take notes on the Ell Duclos Pinterest course
I purchased this course a while ago and have been gradually working through it. In July, I plan to read and make notes on the whole course so that I am ready to implement what I learn.
- Finish making new board covers
I am halfway through making new board covers for my Pinterest boards and I plan to finish this in July.
- Make a story pin
I have never made a story pin before so I would like to try it.
- Use 3 items from my ‘use-up pile’ every day
I have been gradually using up a pile of items that I have had for a long time and need using up. I plan to continue doing this in July.
- Write in my gratitude journal every day
This speaks for itself! I find keeping a gratitude journal really helpful.
- Get up by 8 am each morning
Last month, my goal was to get up at 6.30 am each morning. However, I struggled to sustain this and I felt like I wasn’t getting enough sleep. This month I am loosening up my goal and just aiming to get up by 8 am.
- Be in bed with the lights out by 12 each night
Last month, I challenged myself to be in bed by 11 each night, but I struggled with that because I feel I need longer to wind down in the evenings. Therefore, this month I will aim to be in bed by 12 because then I will have plenty of time to wind down but I will still be able to get 8 hours of sleep each night.
- Learn French every day
Over the past few months, I have been learning French using the Duolingo app. I am really enjoying this, so I plan to continue in July. I will aim to reach my ‘daily goal’ in the app each day.
- Read all the Level A1 texts on Lingua
Lingua is a site that I discovered a few weeks ago, containing easy texts to read in French. It has mini tests at the end of each text, to test how much you have understood. I thought this would be a good way to supplement my French learning, so I am aiming to read the first set of texts on there this month.
- Practise woodwind instruments 10 times
Lately, I have been learning the clarinet, and I plan to continue practising this and improving my skills. However, I also own a flute and a bassoon, and I thought it would be fun to do a bit of practice on those this month. Therefore, I am including practice on any woodwind instrument in this goal.
- Take part in 8 social events (including video calls and in-person)
Last month, I managed to take part in 7 social events. Due to the lockdown, most of these were video calls, but I had one socially distanced meet in-person. In July, I would like to take part in 8 social events.
- Maximum of 50 ‘white carbs’ and/or ‘sweet treats’ during the month
I have been reducing my consumption of sugar by gradually cutting down on the number of cakes, sweets and chocolate I eat each month. It has got to the stage where I think it would be more beneficial to my health to start cutting down on ‘white carbs’ such as white bread, pasta and rice, and replacing them with wholemeal options. Therefore, for this month’s goal, I will be taking note every time I eat a white carb or a ‘sweet treat’ and aiming to keep it below 50 for the whole month. On average, this will work out as 2 or less a day.
- Follow my skincare routine every morning and evening
I have been following my skincare routine over the past few months and I plan to continue in July.
- Upload 20 photos to Shutterstock
I have recently got into taking stock photos and uploading them to Shutterstock. Last month I set myself the goal to upload 30 photos but I only managed 12. Therefore, this month I have been more cautious with my goal and am aiming for 20.
- Fill in my Shutterstock profile to improve discoverability
According to Shutterstock, my profile is only ‘5% complete’ and adding more details such as a description and profile photo would ‘improve my discoverability’. Therefore, I am aiming to do just that!
The following are not goals, but rather guidelines that I plan to follow this month:
- Write specific, realistic goals and tasks for each day.
- Practise ‘power posing’.
- Don’t think about problems, think about solutions!
- Whenever I find myself visualising something going badly, I will cut off that train of thought.
- Be more decisive – when given a choice, pick rather than saying I don’t mind.
