I was delighted when Poster Store recently contacted me to ask if I would like to collaborate with them by writing a blog post in exchange for a selection of posters and frames. Poster Store is a relatively new Swedish company that specialises in producing high-quality, stylish posters and frames at an affordable price. They sell everything from stunning nature prints to minimalistic quotes in a wide variety of sizes, styles and colours so there is something to suit everyone. I love that they are a sustainable company – the posters are locally printed in Stockholm on ecological paper.
With my new posters on the way, I decided to take the opportunity to spruce up my bedroom and redecorate it with a more summery theme. Summer is the perfect time to refresh, renew and switch things up around the home to create a light and airy aesthetic. Read on to find out how I decorated my bedroom for summer, including how I displayed my posters from Poster Store!
Decorating My Bedroom For Summer
Creating a flower and quote themed wall
There were so many amazing posters to choose from on the Poster Store website, and it took me a while to decide which ones to get. I wanted to choose posters that went together well and formed a theme. In the end, I decided on pink flowers and quotes. I already had a lot of pink and floral decor in my room so I thought it would complement what I already had.
The posters and frames were securely and compactly packaged and they arrived safely. The frames were wrapped in bubble wrap with cardboard on the corners and protective film on the glass. My first observation was that the posters and frames are really good quality. The poster paper is thick, and the frames have really neat clips on the back as well as various hanging options.
As you can see, I chose posters with these quotes: ‘Simplicity’, ‘Live More, Worry Less’ and ‘
yesterday NOW tomorrow‘. I really like these quotes because they are simple but motivating, and they capture the spirit of how I am trying to live. The other three posters I chose featured pink flowers which I thought looked great with the quotes.
Poster Store sells frames in several different colours, but I chose gold frames for all my posters because I thought the gold would go really well with the pink and white. I also have a gold mirror on the same wall so the gold matches that too. I’m really pleased with the result and I think the posters look great on my wall!
Changing my bedding to match
I decided to change my bedding to something more summery. First, I put on a pink, floral duvet cover and pillowcase which complemented the theme of my new posters really well. I also used a gold-coloured sheet to match the picture frames. Then, I decorated my bed with a pink cushion and two cuddly cat soft toys!
If you’d like to compare my summer bedding with a more Autumnal version, I previously wrote a post about changing my bedroom decor for Autumn and you can see my Autumn themed bedding there.
Creating a seaside themed corner
After I had chosen my flower and quote posters, I had a small amount of budget leftover – just enough to buy one more small poster. I chose another quote poster with this quote: ‘Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which ones to surf’. I really like this quote and it was on the shortlist for my ‘flower wall’ but I thought it was more seaside themed with the surfing reference.
Incidentally, Poster Store has some really beautiful seaside themed posters and I considered buying them for my main wall, but decided that flowers were more suited to my existing decor and location, as I don’t live anywhere near the sea!
However, I did decide to create a seaside themed corner in my room, featuring this quote poster. I already had a white frame that I used for this poster (this frame is not from Poster Store). I also had several shells and beach-themed items already so I arranged them on the shelves beneath where I hung the poster. Then I made a shell decoration to hang on the wall by glueing some loose shells to a piece of ribbon.
Then I rearranged some of my houseplants and chose ones that look a bit like seaweed or coral to put on my shelves. The plant on the right in the light blue pot is actually called a fishbone cactus!
