6 Little Ways To Treat Yourself on Christmas Eve Night

AD | This post features products that have been gifted to me in exchange for a review. All opinions are honest and my own.

Christmas Eve is one of the most atmospheric nights of the year. There’s something delicious about the anticipation of Christmas Day and maybe even fantasies of Santa flying across the sky in his reindeer-pulled sleigh. But do you truly savour Christmas Eve night and make the most of that special atmosphere? In this blog post, I want to show you how you can treat yourself by adding some special touches to your Christmas Eve night.

It’s typically hard to sleep on Christmas Eve night because of anticipation, excitement and maybe even worry for the big day ahead. Not only will the activities in this post make your night special, but they should also help you to relax and get a better night’s sleep than you otherwise might.

Of course, these tips can apply to any night that you want to make extra special or any time you want to get some quality sleep. For even more tips on how to sleep well every night, check out my bedtime routine for a good night’s sleep. But for now, let’s get onto the little ways to treat yourself on Christmas Eve night!

How To Make Christmas Eve Extra Special

6 Little Ways To Treat Yourself on Christmas Eve Night

1. Put on fresh bedding

It’s always a great feeling to sink into clean, fresh bedding, so why wouldn’t you want that for Christmas Eve night? A survey has shown that 29.1% of people change their bedding on Christmas Eve, and I think they’ve got the right idea. That fresh feeling is well worth the effort of changing your sheets on Christmas Eve.

If you have high-quality bedding, it’s even better! I am extremely grateful to have been gifted this beautiful set of DUSK bedlinen. DUSK sell luxury bedding made of high-quality materials with high thread count, but at an affordable price. They specialise in classic, minimalistic designs and white bedlinen such as those you would find in a luxury hotel.

I opted for their Venice collection which is made of 400 thread count cotton sateen for a silky feel. The duvet cover and pillowcases are plain white with bands of ‘putty’ (gold-ish) colour around the edges. This bedding comes in several colour options but I chose the white with putty because it matches other decor items that I have in my bedroom. It’s also quite a Christmassy colour!

I love that the pillowcases are the ‘Oxford’ style where they have an extra flap (for want of a better word) of material around the edge. I’ve always liked that style of pillowcase – they feel so luxury!

The material of this bedlinen is so soft and silky! I know I will get a great night’s sleep when I curl up under it on Christmas Eve night.

2. Wear fresh pyjamas

This complements the previous point really well because the one thing better than fresh bedding is fresh bedding plus clean pyjamas! Why not choose your favourite pyjamas to wear on Christmas Eve night and get that perfect fresh PJs and clean sheets combo?

3. Have a candlelit bath

If you can make time for it, a candlelit bath would be a wonderful Christmas Eve treat before you go to bed. Candles would provide a cosy, twinkling atmosphere and you could even put on some relaxing Christmas music while you soak in the hot water. This would be the perfect moment of calm to revel in before the big day.

4. Fill a hot water bottle

Winter nights can be chilly, but as Christmas Eve is a special night, you should definitely make sure you won’t be cold! I rarely think to use a hot water bottle, so on the rare occasions I do, it is a real treat. Fill up a hot water bottle to ensure that you will be warm and cosy all night long.

5. Read in bed

How often do you say you want to read more, but never actually find the time? Well, maybe Christmas Eve can be the night when you finally get round to it! Treat yourself to a cosy Christmas novel while tucked up in your warm bed, and read until you get sleepy. This is a great way to distract your mind and fall asleep more easily, as well as add a special touch to your Christmas Eve night.

6. Get an early night

This final suggestion is some practical advice! Did you know that 47.5% of us don’t feel well-rested on Christmas day? To avoid being part of that statistic, try to wind down early in the evening and get as early a night as possible on Christmas Eve, especially if you are likely to be woken up early on Christmas day by excited children (or adults)! This way, you will stand a better chance of getting a good night’s sleep, and what would the perfect night be without sleep?
