The Blogger Recognition Award

The Blogger Recognition Award logo

I am delighted to have been nominated for another blogging award! This time, it’s the Blogger Recognition Award, and I have been nominated by two fantastic bloggers: firstly by Mama Robbins of An Undistracted Life, and more recently by Kendra of Hearts and Houseshoes. Thank you both for the nomination!

I have been following both these women’s blogs for a while, and they both post consistently interesting, helpful and entertaining content, so I thoroughly recommend checking them out!

A good place to start would be their own Blogger Recognition Award posts where you can read the stories of how their blogs started:

About the Blogger Recognition Award

The Blogger Recognition Award is an award given in recognition of all the hard work that goes into creating a blog. It is a way for bloggers to support, motivate and promote other bloggers who have clearly put in huge amounts of time and effort, and produced valuable content.

The Award Rules

  • Write a post displaying your award.
  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you, and provide a link to their blog.
  • Tell the story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
  • Nominate 10 to 15 other bloggers for the award.
  • Let the nominees know that you have nominated them.

How my blog started

My blog started in September 2018. Primarily, it is an outlet for me to get my ideas out to the world. I have always been quite creative and I feel that my ideas and experiences could be of value to others. I would also love to make money out of my blog, because I am changing the direction of my life at the moment and an extra income would be a great support and boost! However, the integrity of my blog will always come before any potential financial gain.

I only began to share my blog publicly in January 2019. Before that, I didn’t promote my blog in any way, because I didn’t feel ready to share it yet. Since January, I have gradually built up a following on social media, and my blog views are steadily increasing! I am very grateful for everyone who reads and supports my blog.

My blog has gone through many changes since it first started, especially with the design and visual elements. I still think of it as a work in progress because there is a lot more I need to learn, and more changes I intend to make. I am excited for the future of my blog!

Two pieces of advice for new bloggers

1: Have a posting schedule, or set yourself rules for how often to post. I don’t have a specific schedule for which days to post, but I set myself the rule that I will post at least once every 6 days. This means that even if I am not feeling very motivated to write, I will push myself to write a blog post within 6 days so that I don’t break my rule. This keeps the momentum up, because I imagine that if you don’t post for a few weeks then it’s harder to get back into it!

2: Be open minded in the early stages – don’t get attached to the precise vision you have for your blog. This includes the way it looks, and the subjects you write about. I have made so many changes in my blog since it started, because as I get more experienced, I realise that some things I once thought looked good are not actually so good, and I can update them for the better. Also, I have written about topics that I never imagined writing about when I first started. It’s okay to keep making changes to your blog, because that’s how it will grow and improve!
